Sheridan County Man Charged With Child Sex Abuse

June 23, 2026

Prosecutors in the Montana Attorney General’s Office have charged a Sheridan County man with 25 felony counts of sexual assault and drug-related crimes, Attorney General Austin Knudsen announced. The charges stem from allegations that the man abused five juvenile girls.

Ivan Edward Greenwell, 40, faces four counts of incest, three counts of sexual abuse of children, five counts of criminal distribution of dangerous drugs, six counts of sexual intercourse without consent and seven counts of sexual assault, according to the Attorney General’s Office.

The case began in August 2025, when one victim reported to the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office that Greenwell had sexually abused her. Two more alleged victims came forward with similar allegations the following day, prosecutors said. Investigators forensically interviewed several of the alleged victims and obtained search warrants as part of the investigation that led to the charges.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, the alleged victims said that over a roughly four-year period, Greenwell showed them pornography, supplied them with alcohol and drugs in exchange for sex acts, and sexually assaulted them in his home, car and RV, sometimes while other alleged victims were nearby.

Greenwell is currently being held in North Dakota on similar charges. His arraignment in Montana is scheduled for July 14. If convicted on all counts, he could face up to 2,200 years in prison and $1.13 million in fines, the Attorney General’s Office said.

Assistant Attorneys General Meghann Paddock and Caitlin Creighton are prosecuting the case alongside Interim Sheridan County Attorney Logan Olson. The Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.
