Montana GOP Questions Ryan Busse’s Silence on Biden’s Endorsement of Kamala Harris

July 28, 2024

As President Joe Biden announced his decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris, Montana’s Democratic gubernatorial candidate Ryan Busse has remained notably silent on the matter.

The Montana Republican Party is expressing frustration over Busse’s lack of comment. Chairman Don “K” Kaltschmidt criticized Busse for not addressing Biden’s exit and Harris’s endorsement. “Ryan Busse’s silence on Joe Biden suspending his campaign and endorsing Kamala Harris is a disservice to all Montanans,” Kaltschmidt said. “Montanans see this for what it is—a desperate attempt to distance himself from the Biden/Harris administration’s failures.”

Key details about Busse’s connections to Biden include:

– Busse has publicly expressed support for Joe Biden.
– He served as an advisor for Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign.
– Busse’s wife, Sara, received over $42,000 from Biden for President.
– Biden appointed Busse to the Wildlife Conservation Council in 2022.

As Biden’s campaign comes to a close, many are watching to see if Busse will clarify his position on the new Democratic frontrunner and how this might impact his own gubernatorial campaign in Montana. Publicly available polling has shown Busse trailing Governor Greg Gianforte by more than 20 points.
