In a open letter, the Flathead County Commissioners expressed gratitude to Congressman Ryan Zinke for his crucial role in securing $1.3 million in funding to upgrade the Flathead Emergency Communication Center’s radio system. The funds, awarded through the Byrne Discretionary Community Project Grant program, will enhance public safety by improving coverage and transmission quality for law enforcement and emergency services across the county.
The planned upgrade to an 800 MHz system represents a significant advancement in emergency response capabilities. This new system offers superior penetration into buildings like schools, hospitals, airports, and private homes, areas where emergency situations are likely to occur. Enhanced building penetration and overall coverage will ensure that law enforcement officers and emergency responders can maintain clear and reliable communication with dispatch and among themselves, particularly in critical situations.
The Board of Commissioners commended Congressman Zinke for his support and dedication to equipping the community with essential tools for safety and emergency response. The investment in this upgraded communication infrastructure is seen as a key step in enhancing the safety and well-being of all Flathead County residents.
