KRAMBU Unveils Plans for World’s Most Sustainable AI Factory in Montana

July 17, 2025

KRAMBU, Inc., a sustainable high-performance computing infrastructure company, announced this week the development of a next-generation AI data center campus in Montana—what the company is calling the world’s most sustainable “AI Factory.”

The project is designed to redefine the future of artificial intelligence infrastructure by integrating direct liquid cooling (DLC) technology, renewable energy sources, and industrial symbiosis to create a regenerative digital ecosystem. The facility will support the growing global demand for AI and high-performance computing (HPC) while minimizing environmental impact and delivering long-term benefits to the surrounding region.

“This project represents more than a data center—it’s a regenerative ecosystem,” said Travis Jank, President and Founder of KRAMBU, Inc. “By combining renewable energy, high-density compute infrastructure, and community-integrated heat reuse, we’re creating a model for sustainable AI development that gives back more than it takes.”

The Montana-based facility will feature:

  • Direct liquid-cooled server systems that dramatically reduce energy consumption and eliminate traditional refrigerants.
  • Renewable energy integration, including solar, biomass-to-energy, and on-site green hydrogen production.
  • Advanced waste heat recapture systems that channel surplus heat into agricultural, commercial, and industrial use on the broader property.
  • On-site power generation, including green hydrogen and natural gas, to increase grid independence and energy resilience.

KRAMBU’s approach, known as the Industrial Symbiosis Model, aims to transform traditional data centers into multifunctional technology campuses where computing power is only one part of a larger, interconnected energy and economic engine. The campus is designed for scalable growth, with future expansions to include co-located industries and additional compute halls.

“It’s about more than compute—it’s about redefining what data centers can be,” said Steve Wood, CEO of KRAMBU. “With liquid cooling, on-site renewables, and integrated community benefits, we’re building infrastructure that works in harmony with its environment—and becomes a long-term asset for the region.”

The project will also position Montana as a hub for sustainable AI and HPC development, offering new opportunities for local economies, workforce development, and technological innovation.

KRAMBU will lead all aspects of the Montana campus, including engineering, deployment, and operations. The company’s end-to-end capabilities include energy-optimized workload management, AI platform monetization, and system architectures tailored to high-density GPU computing.

This latest development builds on KRAMBU’s growing reputation for turning stranded or underutilized industrial properties into high-value digital infrastructure. By leveraging renewable energy, heat reuse, and smart engineering, KRAMBU aims to set a new global standard for environmentally conscious AI deployment.

KRAMBU is a pioneering force in artificial intelligence and high-performance computing infrastructure, specializing in liquid cooling, grid integration, and sustainable data center design. The company is committed to transforming legacy and brownfield sites into next-generation AI factories that fuel innovation, power local economies, and promote long-term environmental stewardship.
