The Montana Department of Commerce announced Friday that more than $90,000 in grant funding has been awarded to the Roundup to help complete rehabilitation of the historic Wier Building.
The funding comes through Commerce’s Montana Main Street Final Stage Funding Grant Program, which supports projects in downtown communities across the state.
Commerce Director Marta Bertoglio said the Montana Main Street Program helps revitalize downtown districts while preserving historic buildings that contribute to Montana’s identity and community character.
The Montana Main Street Program partners with local communities to identify development priorities and provide seed funding for projects designed to create lasting economic and community benefits.
The Final Stage Grant is a newer funding option within the program intended to assist active Main Street projects that have faced rising construction costs or unexpected setbacks, including natural disasters.
Wier Building Project Manager Theresa Doumitt said the program has been an important partner in the effort to restore the building, helping leaders in Musselshell County and Roundup invest in the future while preserving the region’s cultural heritage.
There are currently 38 Montana Main Street communities statewide.
To qualify for Final Stage Funding Grants, applicants must already have an active Montana Main Street project that is at least 75% complete and in need of additional funds to finish construction.
