Sheehy Parachutes Into Yellowstone International Airshow

August 22, 2026

Sen. Tim Sheehy made a fitting entrance at the Yellowstone International Airshow in Billings on Friday, parachuting onto the grounds at Billings Logan International Airport while carrying a Montana state flag.

The former Navy SEAL, FAA-certified commercial pilot and flight instructor arrived during media practice day for the show, joining the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute demonstration team and other performers as crowds gathered ahead of the weekend’s main performances.

The airshow, which celebrates America’s 250th anniversary and the Blue Angels’ 80th year of flight demonstrations, features the U.S. Navy Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Squadron headlining performances Saturday and Sunday, August 22-23, along with the Golden Knights, a USAF F-35A Lightning II Demo Team, an F/A-18 Super Hornet Demo and a lineup of aerobatic performers.

Sheehy has a background well suited to the occasion. In addition to his Navy SEAL service, which included multiple combat deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan and other regions, he founded Bridger Aerospace, a Montana-based aerial firefighting company, and holds a commercial pilot certificate with flight instructor credentials. He participated in a world-record attempt in 2025 involving a large American flag parachute jump.

The Yellowstone International Airshow is one of Montana’s largest aviation events and is held at Billings Logan International Airport.
