Biden’s Cancer Has Spread Further, Son Says

August 10, 2026

Former President Joe Biden’s cancer has spread beyond his bones and is causing him significant pain, his son Hunter Biden said in an interview with the BBC posted online Friday.

Hunter Biden described the disease as “very painful” and “very debilitating,” saying it had “metastasized into his bones and further.” He did not specify where else the cancer had spread or describe the former president’s current course of treatment.

“Cancer is really hard,” Hunter Biden said, according to the BBC. “It’s really sad to watch.”

The remarks offer one of the most detailed accounts to date from the Biden family of the former president’s condition. Biden’s personal office disclosed in May 2025 that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had metastasized to the bone, adding that the cancer appeared to be hormone-sensitive, which typically allows the disease to be managed.

Hunter Biden said his father remains at the center of the family and praised his resilience in dealing with the illness.
