Wyoming Transportation Commission Greenlights $21.49 Million in Highway Upgrades

March 22, 2025

The Wyoming Transportation Commission allocated $21.49 million in contracts for eight highway construction projects across the state during its regular business meeting on March 20, 2025. The awards, granted to various contractors, will fund improvements ranging from concrete slab replacements to bridge rehabilitation and road resurfacing, with completion dates spanning from June to November 2025.
Among the federally funded projects, Acme Concrete Paving Inc., based in Washington, secured a $3.59 million contract to replace concrete slabs on a 3.5-mile stretch of Interstate 80 between Granger and Green River in Sweetwater County. The work includes milling, crack sealing, paving, and traffic control, with a completion deadline of October 31, 2025. Gillette-based S & S Builders LLC won a $3.25 million bid for bridge rehabilitation across Big Horn, Fremont, and Park Counties, with tasks like asphalt paving and guardrail installation set to wrap up by November 30, 2025.
Simon Contractors of Cheyenne earned an $889,190 contract to construct a left turn lane on US Highway 287 and Wyoming Highway 130 in Albany County, with paving and signage work slated for completion by September 30, 2025. Meanwhile, Cowley’s S & L Industrial landed an $807,466 bid to install rumble strips and perform related work at various statewide locations, due by October 31, 2025.
State-funded projects also received significant awards. Cheyenne’s Reiman Corp. secured two contracts: a $4.82 million deal for bridge rehabilitation in Lincoln, Sublette, and Teton Counties, to be completed by June 30, 2025, and a $2.1 million project for slab repairs in Laramie County, due by October 31, 2025. Afton-based Avail Valley Construction-WY LLC won a $2.81 million contract for a mill and overlay on 7.3 miles of Wyoming Highway 51 in Campbell County, with the same October deadline. Lastly, Minnesota’s Bituminous Paving Inc. was awarded a chip seal project covering 54.1 miles across Albany, Carbon, and Laramie Counties, set to finish by August 31, 2025.
Nearly all Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) contracts are awarded to the lowest bidder, ensuring cost efficiency for these infrastructure upgrades.
