North Dakota Development Fund Approves $2.16 Million in Loans Supporting Child Care, Technology, and Agriculture

The North Dakota Department of Commerce announced today that six companies have been
approved for a total of $2.16 million in loan funds through the North Dakota Development Fund,
Inc. NDDF) during the second quarter of 2025. The loans target key sectors including child
care, technology, and value-added agriculture across multiple communities in the state.

“These investments reflect our commitment to economic growth and meeting community needs
across North Dakota,” said Shayden Akason, Commerce Economic Development & Finance
Deputy Director and Head of Investments and Innovation. “Weʼre proud to support businesses
that are expanding access to child care – an essential service that enables parents to remain in
the workforce and strengthens the stateʼs economic resilience.”

These loans are part of the NDDFʼs ongoing efforts to provide flexible financing that nurtures
business growth and meets critical community needs such as child care availability, which is vital
for maintaining a strong workforce in North Dakota. The funding also supports technological
innovation and value-added agriculture projects, helping to diversify and strengthen the stateʼs
economy.

Established in 1991, the North Dakota Development Fund offers loans for new and expanding
businesses, including a dedicated Child Care Loan Program aimed at helping child care
providers address workforce challenges by funding construction, renovation, equipment, and
working capital—typically offering competitive terms to qualified applicants.

Projects funded during this quarter span several regions including Bathgate, Fargo, Minot, and
Mandan, demonstrating NDDFʼs statewide reach to support diverse industries and communities.
