Montana Updates Sexual and Violent Offender Registry to Include Work, School Addresses

February 8, 2025

Attorney General Austin Knudsen announced updates to Montana’s Sexual and Violent Offender Registry (SVOR), providing residents with expanded information about offenders in their communities. The registry will now include offenders’ work and school addresses in addition to their home addresses.

Montana’s Sexual or Violent Offender Registration Act requires offenders to register with local law enforcement, ensuring public access to up-to-date information. Residents can also sign up for alerts when offenders move into designated zip codes.

“I encourage all Montanans to sign up for Sexual and Violent Offender Registry alerts to stay informed on the registrants living, working, and going to school in your area and help you make the best decisions for your families,” Knudsen said.

The SVOR was originally established in 1989 and was recently updated following the passage of Senate Bill 38 in 2023.
