Little Appoints Brendon Taylor as District Judge for Idaho Seventh Judicial District

June 6, 2025

Governor Brad Little announced today the appointment of Brendon Taylor as District Judge for Idaho’s Seventh Judicial District, filling the vacancy left by the retirement of the Honorable Bruce L. Pickett.

Taylor currently serves as a Magistrate Judge in Bonneville County, a position he has held since 2022. He is also the presiding judge of the Domestic Violence Treatment Court program. Prior to his judicial service, Taylor spent 22 years practicing civil and criminal litigation at Merrill & Merrill in Pocatello.

Taylor earned his undergraduate degree from Idaho State University and holds a juris doctorate from Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, Kansas.

“I am incredibly grateful that Governor Little selected me to continue to serve the people of the Seventh Judicial District as the next Bonneville County District Judge,” Taylor said. “I look forward to the challenging work ahead, and I will strive to uphold the integrity and honor of the Idaho Judiciary.”

The Seventh Judicial District covers ten counties: Bingham, Bonneville, Butte, Clark, Custer, Fremont, Jefferson, Lemhi, Madison, and Teton. Taylor’s chambers will be located in Bonneville County.

Under Idaho Code, judicial vacancies are filled through a process in which the Idaho Judicial Council submits a list of at least three qualified candidates to the governor, who then makes the appointment.
