First Lady Melania Trump to Ring Opening Bell at New York Stock Exchange

January 26, 2026

First Lady Melania Trump is scheduled to ring the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, marking a high-profile moment following what the White House describes as an active first year of leadership during President Donald Trump’s second term.

According to the administration, the honor recognizes Mrs. Trump’s work advancing initiatives focused on children’s well-being, education, and safety in the United States and abroad. Since returning to the role of First Lady, she has led and supported several major policy and advocacy efforts aimed at protecting children and expanding opportunities for vulnerable youth.

Among those efforts is her role in championing the TAKE IT DOWN Act, which became law and strengthened federal protections for children against online exploitation, including the misuse of artificial intelligence to create deepfake content.

Mrs. Trump has also led implementation of the Executive Order on Fostering the Future, an initiative designed to coordinate federal resources with public- and private-sector partnerships to expand educational, housing, and career pathways for young people who have experienced foster care.

In the area of emerging technology, the First Lady launched the Presidential Artificial Intelligence Challenge and convened a meeting of the White House AI Task Force. The initiative is intended to encourage responsible exploration of artificial intelligence by students, parents, and educators while engaging the private sector in shaping ethical and innovative uses of the technology.

The administration has also credited Mrs. Trump with securing $25 million in President Trump’s Fiscal Year 2026 budget to support housing for youth transitioning out of foster care, a population that faces elevated risks of homelessness and economic instability.

Internationally, Mrs. Trump has been involved in reunification efforts related to the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, working to help reunite children with families separated by the war. In addition, during the United Nations General Assembly, she helped establish Fostering the Future Together, a global coalition of first spouses aimed at promoting safe and innovative uses of advanced technology to help children learn, grow, and thrive worldwide.

Ringing the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange is a ceremonial role often reserved for public figures, business leaders, and organizations marking significant milestones. The event is expected to draw national attention as Mrs. Trump continues to shape her agenda during the administration’s second term.
