Daines Secures Key Committee Assignments for 119th Congress

December 28, 2024

U.S. Senator Steve Daines has announced his committee assignments for the 119th Congress, taking on influential roles in the Senate Committees on Finance, Foreign Relations, Energy and Natural Resources, and Indian Affairs. These assignments place Daines at the center of critical policy discussions affecting Montana and the nation.

“It’s an honor to serve Montanans in the U.S. Senate, and I’m eager to work with my colleagues on these crucial committees to protect and promote our Montana way of life,” Daines said. “With these assignments, I’ll focus on advancing policies that unleash American energy, cut taxes, expand overseas markets for Montana’s farmers and ranchers, strengthen our international relationships, lower costs for hardworking families, secure the southern border, and combat the deadly flow of drugs.”

Committee Roles and Responsibilities

Finance Committee – The Senate Finance Committee oversees key areas such as taxation, trade agreements, tariffs, and social programs like Medicare and Medicaid. Daines’ position will enable him to influence decisions on revenue measures and economic policies that directly impact Montana families and businesses.

Foreign Relations Committee – Tasked with shaping U.S. foreign policy, the Foreign Relations Committee handles treaties, international legislation, and diplomatic nominations. Daines’ role will involve addressing matters of war, peace, and international relations, ensuring Montana’s voice is represented in global discussions.

Energy and Natural Resources Committee – This committee has jurisdiction over energy development, public land management, and water resources. Daines’ involvement aligns with his commitment to promoting energy independence, forest management, and responsible use of Montana’s natural resources.

Indian Affairs Committee – Focusing on issues affecting Native American, Native Hawaiian, and Alaska Native communities, the Indian Affairs Committee addresses education, economic development, land management, and healthcare. Daines’ participation reflects his dedication to addressing the unique challenges faced by Native populations.

Senator Daines emphasized that these assignments position him to advocate effectively for Montana’s priorities while advancing legislative initiatives that align with the broader national agenda.
