Wyoming Veterans Commission Announces New Appointment and Re-appointments of Commissioners

November 2, 2024

On October 23, 2024, the Wyoming Veterans Commission announced the appointment of a new commissioner and the re-appointment of several dedicated members committed to advocating for veterans throughout the state.

Bobby Werner from Basin, Wyoming, has been appointed as the new commissioner for Judicial District 5. The commission also re-appointed the following individuals:

– **Rosemarie Harding**, Cheyenne, Wyoming, representing Judicial District 1
– **Jack Tarter**, Buffalo, Wyoming, representing Judicial District 4
– **Lyle Wadda**, Fort Washakie, Wyoming, representing Judicial District 9

“These commissioners will strengthen and advance the mission of the Wyoming Veterans Commission by developing and enhancing programs, services, and benefits for Wyoming veterans and their families,” said Tim Sheppard, director of the Wyoming Veterans Commission. “Their roles are vital to ensuring our veterans and their families thrive.”

Founded in 1981, the Wyoming Veterans Commission initially focused on establishing the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Evansville. Over the years, it has expanded its advocacy efforts to better serve Wyoming’s veteran population.

Today, the commission consists of 12 governor-appointed commissioners who represent Wyoming’s judicial districts. It collaborates with the Wyoming Military Department, state government, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and various Veterans Service Organizations to enhance the quality of life for veterans in Wyoming.
