South Dakota Launches New Apprenticeship Knowledge Series

January 9, 2026

The South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation is launching a new monthly webinar series aimed at expanding understanding of Registered Apprenticeship Programs (RAPs) and supporting workforce development across the state.

The Apprenticeship Knowledge Series will cover a range of apprenticeship-related topics, offering education for employers, education partners, community stakeholders, and current apprenticeship sponsors. The series is designed to highlight the value of RAPs and provide guidance on how to become an apprenticeship sponsor.

Each session will be 30 minutes long and focus on a specific topic. The first three sessions will spotlight Youth Apprenticeships, beginning with an introductory webinar on Thursday, January 15, at 11:30 a.m. CST / 10:30 a.m. MST via Microsoft Teams. Attendees will learn about youth labor law exemptions and the benefits of youth apprenticeship programs for both employers and young workers.

The series continues throughout 2026, offering practical guidance and resources to strengthen apprenticeship programs statewide.
