Montana State University (MSU) will celebrate its 142nd spring commencement on Friday, May 9, awarding 2,465 degrees during two ceremonies at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse. The events, scheduled for 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., will mark a milestone for students across undergraduate, graduate, and associate programs.
According to the Office of the Registrar, MSU will confer 1,888 bachelor’s degrees, 401 master’s and doctoral degrees, and 176 associate degrees and certificates to Gallatin College MSU students.
The morning ceremony at 10 a.m., with a procession starting at 9:40 a.m., will recognize graduates from the College of Agriculture, Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship, Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering, and Gallatin College MSU. During the event, Morton H. Meyerson, a former technology CEO and investor who helped establish MSU’s Hilleman Scholars Program, will receive an honorary doctorate.
The afternoon ceremony at 2:30 p.m., with a procession at 2:10 p.m., will honor students from the College of Arts and Architecture, College of Education, Health and Human Development, College of Letters and Science, and Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing. Wendy Jean Red Star, an Apsáalooke artist, MacArthur fellow, and MSU alumna, will be awarded an honorary doctorate.
