Governor Gianforte Hails GE Aerospace Expansion in Butte

March 22, 2025

Governor Greg Gianforte is celebrating a $2 million investment from GE Aerospace to expand manufacturing capacity at its joint venture site in Butte, further boosting Montana’s role in commercial and military aircraft engine production.

“I appreciate the continued investment from GE Aerospace to boost American manufacturing, jobs, and products,” said Gov. Gianforte. “In Montana, we’ll continue to unleash innovation and support job creators and manufacturers that fuel our economy and strengthen our workforce.”

GE Aerospace, a global leader in aviation technology, designs, develops, and manufactures jet engines, components, and integrated systems for commercial, military, and general aviation. Its Butte-based joint venture, Montana Precision Products, is a collaboration between GE Aerospace and SeaCast, operating a nearly 100,000-square-foot facility that produces tube and duct assemblies, as well as small structural castings for aerospace and commercial applications. The facility currently employs more than two dozen Montanans.

The new investment will modernize the plant’s layout to improve workflow and productivity, supporting the production of engine components used in both narrowbody and widebody aircraft engines, as well as military marine engines.

“This is a great day for our site, Butte, and the future of U.S. manufacturing,” said Mike Forrelli, Site Leader for GE Aerospace’s joint venture in Butte. “With this investment, we will continue to play a critical role in producing engine parts that are needed more than ever.”

The Butte expansion is part of GE Aerospace’s broader $1 billion investment in U.S. factories and supply chains to strengthen manufacturing and incorporate advanced materials and components critical to the next generation of aviation.
