Gianforte Highlights Value-Added Ag on 56 County Tour

July 1, 2024

Governor Greg Gianforte continued his fourth annual 56 County Tour as governor, meeting with Montanans in Gallatin and Park counties.

“Montana is home to a diverse range of industries, from pioneering research to small businesses that bolster tourism and the arts,” Gov. Gianforte emphasized. “Investing in our state laboratories and tourism sector is pivotal for driving research advancements, supporting local economies, and showcasing our state’s natural beauty to visitors.”

Beginning the day in Bozeman, Gov. Gianforte highlighted the groundbreaking of a new multi-use agricultural building at Montana State University (MSU). This facility will house the Montana Department of Livestock’s Veterinary Diagnostic Lab, the Montana Department of Agriculture’s Analytical Lab, and the MSU Wool Lab. Financed through appropriations from the 2021 and 2023 legislative sessions, the new lab will conduct research to benefit Montana’s farmers and ranchers, focusing on biosecurity and animal health innovations.

“This building represents an investment in our future generations,” commented Brent Roeder, MSU Extension Sheep Specialist. “Our lab focuses on enhancing agricultural value, much like the governor. Consolidating these labs will create synergies for our producers and future research, thanks to support from major agricultural groups, producers, and ultimately, the legislature and the governor.”

Promoting value-added agriculture to fortify the industry is a cornerstone of Gov. Gianforte’s Montana Comeback Plan.

Music Ranch Montana

Concluding his day in Park County, Gov. Gianforte visited Music Ranch Montana in Livingston with owner Frank Smith to spotlight Montana’s vibrant tourism and arts sectors.

Founded by Frank and Karen Smith, Music Ranch Montana is a popular live music venue and dance hall nestled in Paradise Valley, hosting numerous events each year.

“My vision was to create a community hub where music enthusiasts could gather to perform and enjoy music,” shared owner Frank Smith. “Over time, this vision has evolved, but the core idea has always been to support our community.”

Last spring, in collaboration with the legislature, Gov. Gianforte fulfilled his commitment to empower Montanans financially by implementing the largest income tax cut in state history, reducing income tax rates for all income levels and fostering growth in small businesses.
