Former NFL Quarterback Jay Cutler Arrested for DUI in Tennessee

October 19, 2024

Former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler was arrested for driving under the influence in Franklin, Tennessee, on Thursday night, according to reports from WGN.

Authorities say the 41-year-old Cutler was involved in a minor traffic accident after allegedly rear-ending another vehicle. Police noted that he appeared to be slurring his words and refused to take field sobriety tests. He was subsequently taken to a local hospital, where a blood sample was obtained under a warrant.

During a search of Cutler’s vehicle, police discovered two firearms, including a loaded pistol. Reports indicate that Cutler offered the other driver $2,000 to refrain from contacting law enforcement and attempted to leave the scene.

Cutler was later arrested and faces several charges, including DUI, failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision, implied consent violations, and possession of a handgun while under the influence.

After being booked into the Williamson County Jail, Cutler was released on a $5,000 bond.

Cutler was selected as the No. 11 overall draft pick out of Vanderbilt by the Denver Broncos in 2006. He played 12 seasons in the NFL with the Broncos, Chicago Bears, and Miami Dolphins before retiring after the 2017 season.
