Eagle Mount Great Falls, a local nonprofit providing recreational programs for individuals with disabilities, has received a $22,500 grant from The Hartford to support its adaptive paddle-sports program.
The funding will be used to purchase new equipment, including two adaptive rafts, seven kayaks, and four paddleboards, expanding opportunities for participants to engage in river and lake activities. As part of the grant, 12-year-old athlete Weston Weir received a custom adaptive raft, allowing him and his family to enjoy the area’s waterways together.
The grant supports the organization’s broader mission to provide inclusive outdoor recreation. Eagle Mount Great Falls, a member of the Move United network, offers programs including horseback riding, equine-assisted learning, rafting, fishing, sled hockey, skiing, bowling, and social events, serving individuals of all ages and abilities.
With this funding, the nonprofit aims to enhance its paddle-sports program, helping participants develop skills, enjoy the outdoors safely, and foster self-expression, while continuing to provide inclusive recreational opportunities throughout the community.
