Barrett Hospital & HealthCare Named Among Nation’s Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals for 2025

Barrett Hospital & HealthCare in Dillon, Montana, is proud to announce its recognition as one of the 2025 Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals by The Chartis Center for Rural Health. This prestigious honor, awarded annually, highlights outstanding performance among rural hospitals across the country based on the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX®.

“The Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals award program elevates the very best performers and provides a roadmap for those striving to improve financial and operational performance while continuing to serve their communities,” said Michael Topchik, Executive Director of The Chartis Center for Rural Health. “This marks our 15th year recognizing the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals, and we are thrilled to celebrate this milestone with this year’s winners.”

For Barrett Hospital & HealthCare, this marks the 14th time the organization has been named to the Top 100 list, a testament to its ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, high-value healthcare. CEO Taylor Rose shared his pride in the recognition: “This achievement is a direct reflection of the dedication and excellence that our team at Barrett Hospital continues to deliver in serving our community.”

The Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX®, which forms the basis for the rankings, is the most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance available. The INDEX uses publicly available data to evaluate hospitals across several key operational and financial areas. It is widely used by rural hospitals, health systems with rural affiliates, hospital associations, and state offices of rural health.

Founded in 1922, Barrett Hospital & HealthCare is a non-profit Critical Access Hospital and medical clinic serving the Dillon area. The hospital has earned national recognition for its exceptional service, having also been named a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital six times by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA).

This latest accolade highlights Barrett’s ongoing leadership in rural healthcare and its commitment to meeting the unique challenges faced by rural communities while maintaining the highest standards of care.
