South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley announced Monday that Phase 2 of the National Operation Robocall Roundup is underway, with warning letters issued to four telecommunications companies accused of allowing illegal robocalls to pass through their networks.
Jackley is a member of the 51-state Attorneys General Anti-Robocall Litigation Task Force, created in 2022 to combat the surge of unwanted and fraudulent robocalls nationwide.
“These companies know these calls are happening on their networks and they are now being warned to follow the rules,” Jackley said. “This daily nuisance for consumers stops now.”
The four companies receiving formal warning letters—Inteliquent, Bandwidth, Lumen, and Peerless—are being directed to take immediate action to halt the transmission of suspected illegal robocalls.
Officials say the letters are a key step in the task force’s ongoing effort to pressure telecom providers to improve monitoring practices and cut off pathways used by scam callers targeting consumers across the country.
