TSMC Earnings Put AI Chip Demand in Focus This Week

October 14, 2026

TAIPEI—Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. will report third-quarter earnings Thursday, giving investors another look at whether booming artificial-intelligence spending is continuing to drive demand for the world’s largest contract chipmaker.

TSMC has already reported record third-quarter revenue of about $46.7 billion, up roughly 50% from a year earlier and above market expectations. The result also exceeded the company’s previous revenue guidance of $44.6 billion to $45.8 billion.

Analysts expect another sharp increase in profit, fueled by demand for the advanced processors used in AI data centers. TSMC manufactures chips for many of the world’s largest technology companies, including Nvidia and Apple.

Investors will be watching Thursday’s report for guidance on how long the AI-driven expansion can continue, along with updates on manufacturing capacity, advanced packaging and spending on new factories.

Margins will also be closely followed. TSMC previously projected a third-quarter gross margin of 65% to 67% and an operating margin of 56% to 58%.

Demand for additional capacity remains strong. AMD Chief Executive Lisa Su said last week that the company plans to substantially increase chip supply in 2027 and is working with TSMC and other suppliers to secure additional production. TSMC also recently reached a $2 billion agreement with GlobalFoundries to manufacture silicon interposers in New York for advanced AI chip packaging.

The results come as semiconductor companies remain among the biggest beneficiaries of the global AI investment boom. Earnings for the semiconductor sector are expected to rise sharply during the third quarter as technology companies continue spending heavily on computing infrastructure.

TSMC’s earnings conference is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 15, at 2 a.m. Eastern time.
