Retired Malmstrom Commander Named to Lead Janicki’s Great Falls Operations

October 14, 2026

GREAT FALLS—Janicki Industries has named retired Air Force Col. Daniel J. Voorhies senior director of operations for its new Great Falls manufacturing campus as the aerospace and defense company prepares to expand production in Montana.

Voorhies retired earlier this year after 25 years in the U.S. Air Force. He most recently commanded the 341st Missile Wing at Malmstrom Air Force Base, where he oversaw 4,200 Airmen, civilians and contractors responsible for one-third of the nation’s Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile force.

At Janicki, Voorhies will oversee day-to-day operations at the company’s roughly 1.6 million-square-foot Great Falls campus.

Janicki expects the facility to support more than 1,000 jobs within five years and at least 2,000 jobs at full build-out.

Company President John Janicki said Voorhies brings experience leading large organizations in high-pressure environments and said the company has increasingly looked to military veterans for senior leadership roles.

Voorhies’ Air Force career included assignments in intercontinental ballistic missile operations and evaluation, a tour on the Joint Staff at the Pentagon and senior leadership positions at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana and F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming.

As vice wing commander of the 341st Missile Wing, he oversaw an operating budget of more than $95 million. As wing commander, he managed an annual operating budget of more than $160 million and assets valued at more than $6 billion.

Voorhies holds a master’s degree in strategic studies from the Air War College, a master’s degree in aeronautical science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Oregon University.

Janicki Industries is a privately owned engineering and manufacturing company that produces composite and metallic tooling, parts, prototypes and assembled structures for aerospace, defense, space, marine and other industries.

The Great Falls project represents a major expansion for the company and adds to Montana’s growing aerospace and defense manufacturing sector.
