Daines Announces 2025 Service Academy Nominees

December 12, 2025

U.S. Senator Steve Daines (R-Mont.) has announced his nomination of four Montana students seeking enrollment at the nation’s U.S. military academies.

“As the son of a U.S. Marine, it is an honor and a privilege to nominate outstanding young Montanans to compete for an appointment to the United States service academies,” Daines said. “All of these students demonstrate outstanding leadership, high moral character, and a commitment to excellence. I wish them the best as they seek to serve our country.”

A congressional nomination is a key step for Montanans pursuing admission to the U.S. Military, Naval, and Air Force academies. Candidates are evaluated on academic achievement, civic involvement, athletic ability, and dedication to community and military service.

Daines’ 2025 principal academy nominees include:

  • Ivy Cross, Sidney High School, Sidney — Principal Nomination for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point

  • Ava Mallo, Lavina High School, Lavina — Principal Nomination for the U.S. Naval Academy

  • Isaiah Roush, Sentinel High School, Missoula — Principal Nomination for the U.S. Air Force Academy

  • Wade Stohlmann, Bozeman Gallatin High School, Bozeman — Principal Nomination for the U.S. Air Force Academy

Daines’ office provides resources to help Montana students navigate the nomination and application process for the service academies.
